I have something very exciting to share with you that’s been years in the making! I had an opportunity to share my foundational story of how I arrived in the wine world and it was incredibly powerful to be able to open up my memory bank to talk about my journey working with @alainducasse @chefjoachimofcala @chefhkeller @davidbouley . Andrew Friedman‘s Andrew Talks to Chefs podcast @chefpodcast is one of my favorites that I listen to regularly. Andrew is a very talented interviewer and his talent as an author and natural curiosity really helps bring out nuance in every story he guides. Some of you know of my previous career cooking in some of the great kitchens of the world, and many know me solely in my current incarnation in the wine world. So, how does someone transition from those kitchens to working in wine? It’s a pretty wild ride - pour yourself a glass of something delicious and join me on my journey! I finally got to @haywardrestaurant and it was really, really good! Like I can’t wait to visit again soon kinda good. I was thrilled to see this producer’s wine on the list and couldn’t wait to taste a new vintage from a producer that I think is making some of the most exciting wines in Europe right now. While Muscadet can be so enjoyable, they’re often not the most complex wines and really they’re not meant to be. But what Bretaudeau is doing is truly singular and quite a unique voice to the region and this humble grape. Just arrived in the shop and it’s one of those wines that I’m thrilled to turn people onto with a bit of good old-fashioned contagious enthusiasm. Happy summer, everyone!
